Matthew Mosura, MD

Board Certified in Pain Management and Anesthesiology

A Shreveport- Bossier native, Dr. Matthew Mosura is highly regarded as one of the area’s leaders in Interventional Pain Management. Early into his medical training he excelled at procedure-based medicine, making anesthesia a natural fit. As an anesthesiologist, Mosura enjoyed his time in the operating room, but missed the clinic setting and having the opportunity to interact with patients. After completing his anesthesiology residency, he soon realized that interventional pain management was ideal… It allowed him to maintain his procedural skills as well as interact and build relationships with patients. After completing his interventional pain management fellowship at MD Anderson in Houston, Mosura considered starting practice in a bigger city, but his ties to family and friends brought him back to Shreveport- Bossier.

Mosura believes one of the biggest misconceptions that potential patients have about being sent to a pain management physician is that they are going to be put on a lot of medication, they are going to feel groggy and “drugged” and it will take their quality of life away. Mosura will tell you “That is the total opposite of what he would want to do.” More so, Mosura believes his biggest goal is to get patients active again and being over medicated will not allow for that… he uses a multimodal approach that may include medication management, physical therapy and/or injections.

Mosura will tell you that most days he goes home a little worn out, but always has enough energy to love on his family a little bit, and by the next morning he is happy that he is able to get up and do it all again. He and his wife, Krista, are the proud parents to two sons and are active in their church and community. When time allows, Mosura loves nothing better than hunting and fishing with his sons or going on a family adventure in the great outdoors.

“I truly believe we treat a special group of patients that much of the medical world would prefer to ignore. I think pain and how to treat it scares many physicians and that spills over to the patient and ultimately the care they receive. We (Pain Care Consultants) on the other hand do understand that pain is real and needs real treatments and real compassionate care.”- Matthew Mosura
